Rules of the Game of Blackjack

When you play one of the most famous table games Blackjack in different casinos and in different parts of the world, you will find that there is some variation in the Rules of the Game. For example, you will find variation in the Rules of the Game between casinos in Vegas and Vegas Strip casinos and Reno. And, there may be difference in the rules in Freeport Bahamas casinos and in Atlantic City casinos. So before you play in a casino make sure that you learn the rules typical to that casino or area.

Basic Rules

A Blackjack table consists of 1 to 7 players and a dealer. The seat on the left of the dealer is called the First Base and the seat on the right is called the Third Base. The card deck is kept on the left of the dealer. The money drop slot is kept on the right of the dealer and all the tips and currency get deposited. Before the dealer deals out the cards, the wagers are made by the players by placing chips in the betting box.

Card Dealing

After the bets are made, a pair of cards is dealt from left to right. In most of the Vegas casinos, the Rules of the Game require both the player cards to face down. But, in Atlantic City and in other places, the player cards get dealt face up. However, if the cards are dealt face up, make sure that you don’t touch them.

When it comes to the dealer, the Rules of the Game says one card to face up and the other to face down. The cards are valued as per the following rules:

• Ace = 1 or 11
• Face Cards = 10
• Other Cards = Face Value

Hit

If you want to ‘hit’ the given Rules of the Game are:

• If the cards are dealt face down to you, lightly tap the cards just 2 times.
• If the cards are dealt face up, give a fast stabbing motion pointing at the cards.

Also give a head nod while exclaiming ‘hit’.

Stand

The Rules of the Game with regard to Stand are also simple. When you want to make a stand, you can move your hand left to right, keeping your palm facing down. At the same time, you can nod the head and express a no while exclaiming ‘stand.’
